Google reveals new Glass Enterprise Edition 2 AR glasses

Google has revealed a new version of its business-centric Glass augmented reality glasses.

The wearable, called Glass Enterprise Edition two, is priced at $999 USD (roughly $1,314 CAD). Like to the first Enterprise Edition of Google Glass, the glasses aren't sold directly to consumers.

Regarding technical specification upgrades, the Drinking glass Enterprise Edition 2 features an improved photographic camera, a faster USB-C port and a blueprint overhaul. The new glasses too feature a faster Snapdragon XR1 chip, says Google.

To exist clear, Glass withal isn't existence positioned by Google as a mainstream product. All that has changed with this second version of the glasses is that information technology has been moved out of Alphabet's 'Ten' division and is now releasing every bit a core Google product.

This allows the company to "meet the demands of the growing marketplace for wearables in the workplace," according to a recent Google blog mail focused on the announcement.

Google claims that Drinking glass is used in logistics, ranging from fields like manufacturing to services. Companies like AGCO, Deutsche Post DHL Group, Sutter Health, and H.B. Fuller are all reportedly using Google Glass in some capacity, says Google.

The tech giant claims that Glass allows people "to do their jobs more efficiently by providing hands-gratuitous access to the data and tools they demand to consummate their work."

The sleeker-looking 2nd enterprise version of Google Glass looks strikingly similar to Waterloo-based North's Focals smart glasses. That said, Focals are a consumer product rather than a device focused on businesses.
